Using Adobe Photoshop CS3 - I was looking around for good instructions for getting a see-through text on my images. I searched around and found nothing useful. This is also called transparent text or clear text. In any case - Here are the results I wanted:

1) Get you photo ready (loaded)

2) Next I type the text over top of the photo (no example)
3) Make sure the text is active (see © Images in blue box above) and I select the Add a layer style (fx button)
That brings up this screen - just make sure all the setting are about the same. After selecting all these settings, doulble click on the Bevel and Emboss (on left side - Mine is showing a green check mark)

After double clicking the Bevel and Emboss, make the necessary changes to photoshop screen. The pixel size (1 px - in this case) make a HUGE digfference in the looks. 1 px would be for smaller photos and a LARGE picture would be set at 3px or 4px. The smaller the setting, the sharper the edges.

My example used a really small picture (300px x 400px) so it isn't too sharp

That should do it !
