The Canon EOS 5D digital camera comes equipped with a good battery (BP-511A).
Our camera's are used primarily for wedding photography and the battery will usually last an entire day. We typically shoot about 1,000 images during the day.
We recommend purchasing an additional battery. It's nice to have one battery in the camera and another battery ready to use. Taking an extra battery on vacation is a good reason for the back-up battery.
- The battery will last appx. 800 shots @ 68 degrees F.
- The battery will last appx. 400 shots @ 32 degrees F.
- Storing the battery while fully charged may reduce battery life and performance.
- Try recharging the battery on the day before or day you plan on using it.
- If the battery seems to die quickly after a recharge, it may be time to replace the battery.
- Reviewing images on the LCD screen will reduce battery charge.
- Auto focus and multiple starts (pushing the shutter button halfway) will reduce charge.
